BHA & Those Stupid Little Bumps on Your Forehead

CLOSED COMEDONES. That’s what they’re called. Those stupid little flesh coloured bumps that show up (often) on your forehead, chin, around your mouth etc. They’re annoying because they’re not exactly acne, right? They’re not red, or aggressive looking. Instead they’re these unassuming little assholes that just make your skin look all uneven, particularly under certain lights. They’re stubborn and stupid and for a long time I didn’t even know they were really a thing, I just thought I had an uneven texture to my skin.

Anyways, then I turned twenty-seven and I went on a warpath of discovering a skincare routine that would actually work for me and not ruin my skin in the process. Enter BHA Exfoliants!

So BHA exfoliants are liquid exfoliants, meaning they’re not full of tiny scratchy particles but instead just exfoliate the shit out your skin using sweet, sweet acids or whatever. So I ordered a Paula’s Choice 2% Liquid BHA that I’d read about on Makeupalley and other places and BAM, couple weeks and those little guys were TOAST.

(I applied it morning and night for those few weeks. I did this after cleansing and before moisturizing. Some people say you have to wait thirty minutes between applying a BHA and anything else, but I’m extremely impatient and didn’t do that.)

Here’s the thing, I got cocky. I got cocky and I decided that not only would I discover a good skincare regime finally, but that said skincare regime would be 100% natural! Bye sweet, sweet acids. I threw out a perfectly good half bottle of that PC 2% BHA. I remember doing it and thinking, girl you’re gonna regret this. But like I said, I’m impatient and was like go big or go home!!!

Cool, anyway, a couple months later and the CLOSED COMEDONES are back. Bastards. I didn’t want to order the Paula’s Choice BHA again for a couple reason:
1. It felt really sticky and kind of sting-y after applying, which I wasn’t a fan of.
2. It was kind of expensive, and I’m in Canada so it took kind of a long time to arrive. And I’m impatient.

So now I’m trying out the CorsX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid. I decided to try this because
1. It’s eligible for Amazon Prime.
2. I like their cleanser.
3. They’re cruelty free, so even though I’m not 100% natural, I’m trying people.

I’ve been using the Corsx BHA for a few days now. It’s bringing the CLOSED COMEDONES on my chin to a head, which is cool because I have lots of meetings and appointments this week and I want to look as youthful as possible for all of them (I’ve been telling myself lately that acne is the ultimate anti-ager soooo….). Anyways yeah, the ones on my forehead are still going strong, so I’ll report back in a few weeks BUT, so far:
1. No sticky or sting-y feeling after applying. It just feels like I’m splashing my face with toner. Please god let it be stronger than toner!!!
2. It took care of the chin guys pretty fast so I have hope for my forehead.

Do you guy have any other solutions for CLOSED COMEDONES!? Do you hate them as much as I do? Anyways, Happy Tuesday!
